MARYSVILLE – Old video games never die – they go to Another Castle.
The store sells used games like Pong and Super Mario Brothers.
But store manager Greg Himes said this week that its arcade is what really is drawing in the customers, with games like Space Invaders, Ms. and Mr. Pacman, Donkey Kong, Mortal Kombat and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
They have about 30 machines, including driving, shooting and sports machines. The basketball shooting and Street Fighter are the busiest. If something isn’t popular, they will switch it out.
“We do all the old stuff,” Himes said. “All the old pinball people” come in. “They get all excited.”
He likes when the older folks come in with their kids.
“They pass it on to the next generation,” he said. “The retro scene is really cool.”
Another Castle doesn’t do rentals, but it does take trades. “That’s my main thing,” Himes said, “‘80s and ‘90s Sega and Nintendo.”
He said he’s hearing a lot of positive feedback.
“They are being vocal that it’s nice to have a video store back up in Marysville,” Himes said.
The store, located off 88th between the Shell and Holiday Inn Express, also sells new and old systems such as Atari, Playstation, Xbox, Gameboy, Wii and more. It also offers pinball, Playstation and Rocket League tournaments.
The store sells used DVDs, along with new shirts and hats with their logo. They also sell all kinds of accessories, such as guitars, controllers and cords. Himes said they are popular with the nearby Tulalip swap meet folks because they can buy missing pieces at their store. Another Castle plans to open a bar with wine and beer next door, which would also include more arcade games.
The manager said Saturday is its busiest day, but when Little League teams are in town staying at the hotel they get swamped.
Another Castle also has stores in Edmonds, Lynnwood and Bellingham.
