MARYSVILLE – A Community Meeting will take place at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Sunday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. in the gymnasium to talk about Friday’s deadly shooting.

A message has been sent to all MPHS families and staff. The gathering will be in the gym.

The event will be an opportunity  to talk about what happened and think together about how the community will begin to heal from this tragic event, Marysville School District spokeswoman Jodi Runyon says in a news release.

After opening remarks from community leaders, there will be time for parents to meet separately to talk through their specific questions and concerns. Students will be welcome to stay and meet separately with their peers and counselors at that time.

Mental health counselors and other specialists will be available to offer support to anyone who needs it.

Meanwhile, while M-P is closed this week out of respect for the tragedy, the Marysville YMCA plans to help.

The Y will open its doors to MPHS students and faculty to provide a place for healing and fellowship, Mary Bredereck says in a news release.

Also, the Youth Development Center will open at 11 a.m. all week.

“As an organization committed to supporting youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, we are here to help our Marysville and Tulalip communities come together to heal from this traumatic experience,” the release says.
