MARYSVILLE — Hungry?
Now and in the future, Marysville will offer more and more spots for your dining pleasure.
For whatever reason, the city seems to be going through a boom in creation of new restaurants, ranging from local enterprises to fresh outlets for fast food chains.
In terms of local endeavors, Mayor Dennis Kendall helped cut the ribbon Sept. 26 for Neapolis Ristorante, which has opened for business on 88th Street in the same shopping plaza as the Haggen’s grocery store near I-5.
According to the city, the new Neapolis is an addition to the restaurant of the same name in Lake Stevens. The restaurant features Italian and Greek food, along with Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine.
Elsewhere, Community Development Director Gloria Hirashima talked about sushi restaurants opening in the Lakewood Crossing Shopping Plaza on Twin Lakes Avenue, as well as in the nearby the Gateway Shopping Center on 116th Street NE.
For those in a hurry, fast food will be on the menu in several more locations.
At Gateway, hamburger chain Carl’s Jr., should open its first franchise in this part of the state by the end of November. Company spokesperson Kristen Harmony said the chain, which started in southern California, currently operates 16 restaurants in Washington, with the nearest being in Spokane.
While no restaurant is involved, Hirashima said the other big development underway at Gateway is a Rite Aid pharmacy. Hirashima did not have an opening date for the drug store.
Just across I-5, Lakewood Crossing is set to welcome several new additions, including an I-Hop outlet that should open late this month or in early October, Hirashima said.
While the arrival of I-Hop has been previously announced and the restaurant is well under construction, Hirashima said yet another franchise seems headed for the plaza. Officials for Pizza Hut have approached the city about a building permit, though Hirashima did not mention a timeline for construction of that undertaking.
Hirashima further noted the city further could be in line for a second Burger King outlet, this time on the north side of 172nd Street near Lakewood Crossing.
