MARYSVILLE — Two Marysville churches will be hosting classes intended to help families and individuals manage their finances in tough economic times.

Financial Peace University, a 13-week program taught by author and radio personality Dave Ramsey, will start their classes Sept. 14 at the Marysville Seventh-Day Adventist Church, located at 12012 51st Ave. NE, and Sept. 16 at the Marysville First Assembly of God Church, located at 4705 Grove St. Both classes start at 6:30 p.m. For more information or to register, contact Joe Wedel at 360-657-1490 or Einherjock@hotmail.com for classes starting Sept. 14, or Chris Cook at 425-422-5843 or blindref4@comcast.net for classes starting Sept. 16.

The program consists of 13 different lessons, with materials presented on DVD. After each lesson, class members help each other plan budgets, and discuss their progress and setbacks.

Classes discuss saving for emergencies, money issues in relationships, bargain-hunting, getting out of debt, understanding investments and insurance, retirement and college planning, real estate mortgages, and careers and extra jobs.

Each class participant is required to have a kit, which includes a workbook, an envelope system, 13 audio lessons, a bonus CD, budgeting forms, debit card holders and Ramsey’s book, “Financial Peace.” Special rates are available online or by calling 888-227-3223. Included in the cost of the kit is a lifetime family membership to Financial Peace University, allowing the participant to return to any class at any time for a refresher course.
