Ballots were mailed Aug. 1 to 366,903 voters in Snohomish County for the Aug. 18 primary.
“The primary is the first step in determining who will represent us and the interests of our communities in important local offices,” Snohomish County Auditor Carolyn Weikel said. “Our choices in the primary races determine which candidates will be listed on our general election ballot. It is important that we all participate.”
Snohomish County conducts all of its elections entirely by mail. There are no polling locations. All voters who can participate in this election will be sent a mail ballot to their current residential or mailing address. Any voter who believes they are eligible for the primary and who has not received their ballot by Aug. 7 should contact Snohomish County Elections at 425-388-3444.
Voters may return their voted ballots through the mail. The ballots must be postmarked no later than Aug. 18. Voters may also return their voted ballots postage-free to any one of the five community collection centers located throughout the county. These sites will be open to receive voted ballots the day before the election, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on election day, Aug. 18 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The community collection centers will be at:
– Marysville Sno-Isle Library, at 6120 Grove St. in Marysville.
– Mill Creek Sno-Isle Library, at 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway in Mill Creek.
– Lynnwood Sno-Isle Library, at 19200 44th Ave. in Lynnwood.
– Mukilteo Sno-Isle Library, at 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. in Mukilteo.
– Snohomish Sno-Isle Library, at 311 Maple Ave. in Snohomish.
Site information is listed on an insert delivered with each mail ballot and can also be found in the local voters’ pamphlet. Voted ballots will only be accepted during the days and hours listed.
Snohomish County Elections will have accessible voting equipment designed for voters with disabilities available in the Auditor’s Office through Aug. 18, and at the disAbility Resource Connection Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through election day, Aug. 18 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The disAbility Resource Connection is located in Suite 6c at 607 SE Everett Mall Way in Everett. The Snohomish County Auditor’s Office is located on the first floor of the Snohomish County Administration Building, at 3000 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett. The office is open to the public Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office will be closed Aug. 14 for a county mandatory furlough and will have extended hours on election day, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
First-time voters wanting to vote in this election may register in person at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office through Aug. 10.
In order to register to vote in the state of Washington, a person must:
– Be a citizen of the United States.
– Have lived in Washington state for at least 30 days.
– Be at least 18 years old by election day.
– Have had their voting rights restored if they were ever convicted of a felony.
