Marysville Rotarian Steve Fulton brought back 23 hand-sewn, size 5 soccer balls from the clubs annual Guatemala trip last week. He was asking $10 each to be donated to the Hands for Peacemaking organization that partners with the club to bring aid to Guatemalans in a rural part of the countrys highlands.
He sold out the first day.
There are 50 to 75 more balls down there (in Guatemala) in the storeroom, Fulton said. He wants to take orders and also get some testimonials from the 23 folks who bought the first batch. They appear to be good quality from what I have seen but we need first-hand comments to pass along from the folks who have actually used the balls.
Fulton said the Sedro-Woolley Rotary Club is going to Guatemala in June and could bring the soccer balls back then, so Fulton is taking orders for them at 425-422-0883.
The Marysville Rotary Club built their fifth school house in the remote highland area around Barillas. Guatemala and has spent more than $50,000 over the years there in various aid projects with local donated labor and supplies.
