This letter is in response to your editorial piling on to stomp President Bush over his commutation of jail time for Libby. It reminds me of a bunch of schoolyard bullies who, when finding one of their own (special prosecutor Fitzgerald) caught out and denied, put on their hobnailed boots and gang stomp the good Samaritan (President Bush), who has righted the injustice done to (probably innocent and certainly irrelevant) Scooter Libby.
It is simply bizarre that liberals would want to draw attention to issues of perjury, particularly since Hillary has recently trotted out Bill to support her campaign. Do you think voters have forgotten that Bill was disbarred over issues of honesty under oath? I would think you would want to stay as far away from issues of clemency and pardons as possible.
While it might be fun to kick a dead horse, Hillarys horse is far from dead and to remind people that Bill Clinton sold some of the most egregious pardons in history in the waning minutes of his presidency might make voters nervous when contemplating eight more years of such ethical standards. It might remind people that one of Bills 140 pardons went to free 16 FALN terrorists who killed six people, just so that Hillary could gain Hispanic votes during her N.Y. Senate race. The difference between the commutation of Libbys jail time for compassionate reasons and Bill Clintons pardons for his or Hillarys personal or political gain perfectly displays the difference in ethical standards between these two administrations.
Are liberals like Doctors, except they have to take a Hypocritical Oath?
