MARYSVILLE — The annual Marysville Homegrown Festival and Street Fair takes place the weekend of Aug. 14-15, and this year features the return of the Hometown Revue entertainment and variety show to the Third Street Stage Aug. 15, as well as the Hat and Bonnet Contest and the Vegetable and Fruit-Carving Contest.
Entertainment will include dance and musical numbers featuring the Step Sisters tap-dancing troupe, the Marysville Performing Arts Centre, the Seattle Choir, Zumba, and Camp Fire USA Youth performing to “Footloose,” the latter to kick off the day’s dancing at 11 a.m.
Attendees are encouraged to share and wear their best-designed hats or bonnets during the Hat and Bonnet Contest at 11:40 a.m., where a panel of judges will select the winners, and the Vegetable and Fruit-Carving Contest gets under way at 12:30 p.m.
“There are two ways to participate in the Vegetable and Fruit-Carving Contest,” said Hometown Revue Coordinator Leslie Buell. “Build and bring a creation from home, or test your skills in a 15-minute timed contest. For there, it’s up to the audience to choose a winner.”
Entrants can register at the information booth, and winners not present at the awards ceremony will be contacted.
