M-P presents awards to seniors

MARYSVILLE – Dozens of honors were presented at the recent Marysville-Pilchuck High School awards banquet for graduating seniors.

MARYSVILLE – Dozens of honors were presented at the recent Marysville-Pilchuck High School awards banquet for graduating seniors.

Chloe Oto won the Marysville Education Association scholarship, and Cesar Zataraia took home the O’Callahan Family Scholarship.

Cassie Coate and Kate Edwards won the Marysville School District Foundation award, while Kris Hanson, Bailey Scallon and Trent Tingelsted won the Clint Thomason Memorial Scholarship.

National Honor Society awards went to: Thomas Haefle, Amanda Kaleb, Claire Dobler and Collin Paulk.

The PTSA scholarship went to Natasha Flitz. The Golden Wheels Scholarship winner was Juno Valencia. The PGVAC Scholarship winners were Josh Shields, Cesar Vazquez and Juno Valencia. Each winner was given a gift card to purchase Craftsman tools at Sears.

Washington Principals Scholars were: Kalab, Paulk, Khahn Stitsel, Dobler, Haefele, Hannah Vincelette, Logan Plant, Ahnna McCoy, Nicole Maas, Coate, Flitz, Maggie Novy, Carsyn Yorkoski, Morgan Chaney and Samuel Watson.

M-PHS Faculty Award Boy/Girl went to Watson and Purdom, who also won the Association of Washington Cities scholarship.

Tingelsted won the CTE scholarship, and Coate and Michael Northrop won the Kellogg Marsh PTA Scholarship.

Coate took home the April Friesner Memorial Royalty scholarship, and Tingelsted the Todd Bevan Memorial Scholarship.

The Everett Community College Academic Excellence Award was claimed by Bethany Nelson, while Purdom and Megan Stuart took home the M-P Memorial Foundation award. Megan Gross and Makenna Stadum took the Ken Coulter Windsor High Scholarship.

The Roy Robinson Family Scholarship went to Haefele, while Kalab and Zataraia took the M-P Booster Club Scholarship. Riley Hougan won the state School Retirees Scholarship and Tif Johnson the U.S. Naval Academy.

Purdom and Watson won the WIAA Cliff Gillies Student Awards and the Tomahawk Scholar Athletes of the Year were Josh Bevan and Bianca Acuaro and Dylen Boomer and Coate.

Academic Challenge winners were: Watson, John Turral, Khahn Stitsel, Stadum, Hailee Simenson, Scallon, Chloe Sakshaug, Haley Ries, Maggie Novy, Michael Northrop, Bethany Nelson, Ahnna McCoy, Jason Maki, Nicole Maas, Kalab, Skyleen Inthathirath, Nathan Heckdndorf, Haefele, Jamie Garrett, Austin Epstein, Dobler, Casey Broden, Gordon Aumick and Ryker Alskog.

Eryn Hall won the Presidents Volunteer Service Award, and Mitchell Sawyer won a memorial scholarship from the Kiwanis.
