SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – Snohomish Health District will make a pitch for healthier living at the Everett AquaSox 16th Annual “Strike Out Tobacco” ballgame on Aug. 9. Parking is free in the south parking lot and admission is reasonable at $7 for lawn seating at Everett Memorial Stadium, 3802 Broadway, Everett. The gate opens at noon.

The local public health agency for Snohomish County will promote its tobacco prevention and control, and vaccine-preventable diseases programs with baseball caps and fun prizes for “Fast Facts” winners during the ballgame. Health education booths in the main concourse will include the “REALITY” display of real organs and body parts affected by healthy and unhealthy choices.

The AquaSox square off against the Eugene Emeralds at 1:05 p.m.

“The AquaSox are great models for healthy behaviors that include plenty of exercise, good nutrition, and zero tobacco use,” said Dr. Gary Goldbaum, Health Officer and Director of Snohomish Health District. “Only a few of us will be baseball stars, but all of us can strengthen the health of the community by choosing to quit tobacco, increase physical activity, and immunize against disease.”
