Thomas L. Bartlett, 56, of Marysville, Wash. passed away on Sept. 27, 2009, at the family home with his wife by his side. He was born on Jan. 31, 1953, to Jack and Gladys Bartlett.
Tom was raised in Marysville. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1971. During his high school years he played football, participated in the band and was an honor student. He attended Western Washington State College for two years before transferring to the University of Washington where in 1976 received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
After college, Tom was employed by Intermec Technologies. His early years were spent as a software programmer, with the majority of his career in management. In 1989, Tom was asked to join a small start-up company now known as PathGuide Technologies. As in most small, growing companies, he wore many hats over the years with the final one being their Executive Vice President.
It was at Intermec that Tom met his wife, Janet Hamilton. They married in 1985 and lived in Everett. Later they moved to Spee-bi-dah and finished their home they were building. Their life together was enriched by family and friends. And Tom was the happiest when he was around water, especially water skiing.
Tom strived to improve himself and others. He encouraged people to experience new things and wanted them to realize their potential in all things. If there was some resistance, he would remind them, “There is no tomorrow.” For him, that was very meaningful since he had a chronic liver disease called PSC. He was diagnosed in 1984 and had been on the liver transplant list.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Janet; step-son, Andrew Hamilton (Jana) of Lake Stevens: grandsons, Austin and Elijah; step-daughter, Jill Hamilton Saho (Ebou) of Mukilteo; grandsons, Donte’ and Andre’; father, Jack Bartlett (Mitzi) of Marysville; brother, David Bartlett of Bozeman, MT; brother, Dan Bartlett (Tami) of Marysville; niece, Molly and nephew, Jonathan “JJ”; sister, Janice Crocker (Eric) of Marysville; nephews, Nathan and Joseph; uncle, Morgan Bartlett (Sharon) of Stanwood; in-laws, Doris McLennan (Craig) of Everett; Don Ayers (Patty) of Burlington; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Bartlett.
