Born March 22, 1947, Dad died unexpectedly on February 23, 2011. Dad was the first of four children born to Harold and Peggy Whippo. He graduated from Ketchikan High School in 1964 and went on to earn his BA in Zoology/Economics, and eventually a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Washington. He also earned his Airline Transport Pilot with CFMEI.
Dad was a pilot and flight instructor, teaching at Galvin Aviation and a Caravan Pilot for FedEx and Empire Airlines. He was also employed by National Charter Network flying lifeguard operations. For 3 years he was employed by Cessna Aircraft Company as their NW Regional Manager.
He is survived by his wife (Jo) of 33 years, daughters Wendy (Darrin) and Ashleigh, granddaughters Laurel and Jacquelyn, mother Peggy, brothers Scott (Olga) and Vance, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition, Dad leaves behind many life-long friends worldwide. He is preceded in death by father Harold and Sister Sherry.
He will be remembered for his hospitality, passion for aviation and love of animals.
He will be greatly missed.
