Fair Housing Laws

Free public seminars on Landlord-Tenant and Fair Housing Laws, held in Everett, Lynnwood and Marysville on May 21-22 and June 5, respectively, provide valuable information on laws related to renting and selling housing for landlords, tenants and property managers.Sponsored by the Snohomish County-Camano Association of Realtors, Snohomish County Apartment Operators Association, Volunteers of America – Dispute Resolution Center, Snohomish County and the city of Everett.

Old Time Fiddlers

DECA Golf Tourney

WHAAM (With Help All Achieve More) with support from Marysville Pilchuck High School DECA hosts a Golf Tournament and Dinner/Auction on Saturday, May 31, at Glenn Eagle Golf Course to benefit the Life-Skills (special needs) programs Christmas Party and Zoo trip. Babysitting basics

This instructional course is geared for youth, ages 10-14 that would like to receive babysitting certification. Offered by Campfire, but open to all. Learn how to feed and diaper infants and toddlers, handle children’s bed and bath routines, set limits and handle troublesome behaviors, prevent accidents and respond to emergencies. Participants must attend both days to receive certification. BBQ and Float Social

Whitehorse Community Center is having an old fashioned barbecue and root beer float social and silent auction fundraiser from 5 – 8 p.m. Saturday, May 31. Proceeds go toward new windows to replace the old single pane windows. Volunteer training

Adults living in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities and adult family homes throughout Snohomish County are in need of a volunteer ombudsman, who can serve as an advocate, educator, investigator and problem solver on their behalf. The Snohomish County Long Term Care Ombudsman Program offers a four-day training session June 4, 6, 10 and 12. Volunteers must be present each day and once certified, are asked to help four hours a week at an assigned long-term care facility. Kickball for adults

Registration begins in May; games are in June and July. Round up friends and co-workers and hit up the field this summer with the Marysville Parks and Recreation Kickball League. Festival of Trees

Ombudsman Training

Vulnerable adults living in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities and adult family homes throughout Snohomish County are in need of community help. The Snohomish County Long Term Care Ombudsman Program will offer a four-day training session on June 4, 6, 10 and 12, for new volunteer ombudsman. Once certified, volunteers are asked to spend an average of four hours a week on their ombudsmen duties. Expenses such as mileage are reimbursable. YWCA’s Pathways to Work

Employment Support Class for Women. For individuals who spent at least 10 years as a homemaker and who needs to re-enter the workforce because of divorce, separation, death or disability of a spouse, or loss of welfare? Donations greatly welcomed, with proceeds used to support development of the city’s first off-leash dog park and to support M-DOG in its endeavor to advocate on behalf of dog owners and pet-related issues. Dozens of pet vendor booths, regional flying disc championships, Flyball demonstrations, Emerald City K-9 Freestyle Dog Dancing demonstrations and many fun “best in show” contests round out a great day for dogs and their owners.
