MARYSVILLE — Marysville Little League will hold baseball and softball registration sessions in Cedarcrest Middle School’s cafeteria on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We want to make sure youths in Marysville have something to do besides watch T.V.,” MLL president Judd Luton said. “It’s about getting as many kids playing as possible and the program is small enough that everyone knows everybody.”
The first registration period on Jan. 3 attracted 100 boys and girls.
Sign-ups will remain open until Jan. 31 on MLL’s new webpage, www.marysvillelittleleague.net, which Luton said improves communication. The Jan. 14 and Jan. 19 registration dates are recommended for those interested in skipping long lines.
Those who register online, however, will still need in-person verification of age and Marysville residency. Original state of Washington birth certificates with state seals and three pieces of residency verification such as a utility bill, personal identification, checkbook or passport are accepted.
Marysville Little League offers non-competitive tee ball for 4- and 5-year-olds and coach pitch baseball for 6- and 7-year-olds who wish to learn the fundamentals of the sport.
American and National league majors baseball is open to 10-, 11- and 12-year-olds. Teams compete for chance to play in state championships and the Little League World Series.
Full and partial need-based scholarships are available for registrants who feel they cannot afford the costs of participation.
