MARYSVILLE – Connor Stephens of Arlington shot a 35 to lead local golfers at a Wesco 3A North match at Cedarcrest March 28.
Par is 35.
Marysville-Pilchuck placed fourth in the team standings, with Arlington fifth and Marysville Getchell seventh.
MG coach Ryan Gilbertson in explaining the course conditions to the players Tuesday, asked the players to look out for each other’s shots. Even if it’s in the fairway, the course is so wet you could lose a ball.
“It’s in the muck,” Gilbertson said, adding players needed to agree on a drop with no penalty.
The coach said his top golfers back this year include Justin Good, Bernard Duplessis, Ethan Reed and freshman Mitch Anders.
M-P coach Mike Reynolds said he has two returnees who went to state last year in Nate Venebles and Justin Trueax. Nate is a four-year letterman and a senior and Trueax is a two-year letterman and a junior. Senior CJ Goodman is another key returner, he said.
