MARYSVILLE — Riley Taitingfong and Zack Hanson have been named the Marysville Soroptimist and Kiwanis Students of the Month for November.
Taitingfong has a 4.0 cumulative GPA and has taken AP classes in biology, U.S. history, literature and statistics. She’s a member of National Honor Society, the TV3 Video Club and the Random Acts of Kindness Everyday Club, varsity track and volleyball, and has been on the Homecoming Court two years.
Taitingfong has volunteer-coached volleyball at Totem Middle School and volunteered at the Mountainview Presbyterian Church Vacation Bible School and the Salts of the Earth Food Bank. She’s participated in the Housing Hope cleanup project and remote TV3 operations for the Marysville Strawberry Festival and the Marysville-Pilchuck High School graduation ceremony.
Taitingfong has served as vice president of the sophomore and junior classes, the executive producer and station manager of TV3, the prefect and mentorship chair of the International School of Communications, and the co-captain of club and varsity volleyball. She was also president of the Pilchuck Media and Broadcast Video Club.
Taitingfong has been named a debate champion and Ayn Rand Essay Contest Winner and won an ISC Academic Achievement Award.
Hanson has a 3.903 cumulative GPA and has taken AP courses in U.S. history, language and composition, literature and composition, advanced chemistry, college algebra and pre-calculus. He’s a member of National Honor Society, the Bio-Tech Club, varsity track and football, and has been on the Homecoming Court two years.
Hanson has assistant-coached Marysville’s Area Youth Football Team and volunteered at the Marysville Youth Football Camp and Twilight Cross-Country Meet, for the Marysville Rotary Pumpkins For Literacy event and with Mack Strong and Hope International at Tulalip Elementary. He’s participated in the 88th street cleanup, You’ve Gotta Love This Place and the Big Buddy program.
Hanson has served as co-captain of the Tomahawk football team and as a member of the Marysville Junior High School Leadership Class Dance Committee. He worked as an employee in the concession stand and does yard work for family members and friends throughout the Marysville community.
Hanson won a $100 Outstanding Junior Achievement Award from Crystal Masonic Lodge 122.
