ARLINGTON – A 62-year-old woman died Wednesday evening in what Arlington police are investigating as a DUI crash involving five cars.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle driven by the woman rear ended another vehicle and then veered into oncoming traffic, striking a second vehicle head on. The crash then pushed the vehicle into two other parked vehicles.
Arlington police and fire departments were dispatched to a 9-1-1 call at the intersection of 188th Street NE and Smokey Point Boulevard at 5:45 p.m., city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield says in a news release.
Arlington fire transported three people to Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington.
Two were transported for evaluation. The 62-year-old woman was transported in critical condition and later died.
The intersection was initially closed for an hour while crews worked to clear the collision scene. The intersection was closed again at 9 p.m. for another two hours for an investigation.
