ARLINGTON – A neighborhood meeting is planned to answer questions about a proposal to build a 170-unit, multi-family senior housing community in Smokey Point, a place that is quickly becoming an oasis for senior living.
The meeting will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. July 3 in the Arlington City Council chambers, 110 E. Third St.
Affinity at Arlington, LLC wants to build the community on 5.36 vacant acres southeast of 172nd Street NE and Smokey Point Boulevard.
The project would consist of a four-story building with one- and two-bedroom units, balconies and patios, interior corridors, a port-chochere main entrance and secured access entries.
A fireplace lounge, private family dining room with full kitchen, library, game room, craft room, cards and billiards room, dog grooming salon, indoor saltwater pool and spa, resident workshop, large covered patio area ,including a kitchen and barbecue space, will be on site.
Outdoor amenities would include an outdoor gas fire pit lounge, community garden, dog park and pickleball court. Access into the complex will be from 169th Street NE.
Planning officials said the meeting will allow the public to become involved in the permitting process early, ask questions, review plans and voice concerns.
Two other multi-family projects are in the permitting stages nearby.
AMCAL Multi-Housing, Inc. plans to build the Smokey Point Apartments, a 255-unit senior housing community on 5.4 acres of vacant land at 3905 172nd St., on the north side of the highway across from Wal-mart.
Another project, The Villas at Arlington, will construct 312 multi-family home units in the 18500 block of Smokey Point Boulevard north of the Stillaguamish Senior Center. The three-story, 13-building complex on 15 acres would provide affordable rental housing, plus a recreational building.
