The team representing Marysville-Tulalip Pickleball wants all the folks in Marysville to know how well our city works together for community good!
In mid-May a group of us representing Pickleball for Marysville presented to the City Council and attending members our need for courts to play on.
We pointed out we fulfilled goals in both their Vision and Mission statements…to provide recreation and partnering with the community to provide services. The council wasted no time!
The council and representatives there swiftly gathered the school district and parks department to create a plan to provide such a space!
We want to thank particularly:
Mayor Jon Nehring for his leadership in gathering resources together to make this happen, and the council who caught the vision as well.
Jim Ballew of Marysville parks who was our close contact during the process of coordinating services, and whose department financed the cleaning and striping of Cedarcrest courts for our use.
Marysville School District: Particularly Greg Dennis, who directed the contractors on the work and coordinated support from the school board and superintendent; Greg Erickson, director of athletics, and Stephanie Clark, principal of Cedarcrest and the PE staff.
Also to Steve Powell of the Globe for his advice and support.
To our incredible surpris all these city representatives made this happen in less than a month! And we are now playing regularly, everyone welcome, at Cedarcrest.
We are thrilled and grateful, and proud of our community where resources can be combined to achieve something of benefit to the whole community.
