Walter Stephen Craigle recently lost his two-year battle with cancer.
He was born in 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and grew up in the Chicago area.
Steve was a career aerospace engineer and aircraft designer for a half-dozen manufacturers nationwide. He was also a long-time private pilot and builder of experimental aircraft.
Always eager to contribute a helping hand to his fellow pilots, Steve could be counted on to lend tools and expertise to any project. His hangers and
garage were testaments to his creativity and endless engineering talent.
Steve is survived by his wife Beverly, daughter Christine, grandsons Taylor and Ryan, brother John and sister Carol. Bev’s two children and four
grandchildren were also a part of his loving family.
Steve will be greatly missed by his family and his flying buddies, but we all know he is now charting a new course, free of VFRs.
