Marysville homeowners donate $500 to police

MARYSVILLE — Marysville residents Mary Lou Hatcher and her husband, John Anderson, were so grateful to their home security system and local police department for their swift response to an attempted burglary Nov. 12 that they asked Sonitrol Pacific to donate $500 in their name to the Marysville Police Department K-9 Unit.

Hatcher, Anderson and Sonitrol representatives presented an oversized check to Marysville police officers Dec. 4 at their police station. According to Hatcher and Anderson, she received a call from Sonitrol at her office, informing her that they’d detected an opened window and footprints in the house, and had already called Marysville Police. She e-mailed Anderson about the Sonitrol report. Five minutes later, he found police already on the scene.

“There were about 10 police cars, some of them a block away,” Anderson said. “They knew they’d still find the intruders there because it was Sonitrol.”

Sonitrol Senior Security Consultant Dick Chase and Marysville Police Chief Rick Smith both lauded the “great partnership” between their two agencies.

When Anderson referred a new client to Sonitrol, he was told that he could have $300 paid to him or $500 donated in his name to the recipient of his choice. He and Hatcher chose to donate $500 to the police department.

“I really want to thank the Marysville Police for being so quick,” Anderson said. “They had it covered all over the place.”
