A Christmas Wish
ARLINGTON – A Christmas Wish is partnering with the Arlington Boys & Girls Club in a toy drive to fulfill Christmas wishes for about 800 children in Arlington and Darrington
This year names are being collected from the Arlington Food Bank, DSHS, Kids Kloset, Apple Preschool, and the Community Resource Centers in Arlington and Darrington.
Community members can bring donations of unwrapped gifts to one of several locations, including the Boys & Girls Club, Arlington Grocery Outlet, 7 Lakes Dental, American Legion Post 76, S&S Roofing and Symmetry Chiropractic.
Banks and credit unions in Arlington and Darrington will have giving trees where you can choose a tag and purchase a gift, or make a donation and the shopping will be done for you. Unwrapped gifts will be accepted until Dec. 13.

Fire Santa Run starts Dec. 7
ARLINGTON – The Annual Santa Run Food Drive kicks off Dec. 7 and ends Dec. 16. Arlington firefighters, their families and friends escort Santa through Arlington neighborhoods on a decorated fire truck, gathering food and monetary donations for the Arlington Food Bank. Lions Club thanked
ARLINGTON – Jim and Donna Knight and the Arlington Lions Club were recognized by Arlington Public Schools for working with school nurses to conduct vision screenings for elementary school students.
District nurse Krissa Cramer said because of the Lions Club’s involvement this year, 2,679 children received free visions screening for both near and distance vision in accordance with state requirements.
The tests identified some children who required glasses, and for one first-grade girl, “Her parents expressed how grateful they were that their daughter could see now. They had absolutely no idea that she couldn’t see,” Cramer said. The Lions used specialized equipment and volunteers with no cost to the district, Cramer said.
Jim Knight was grateful for the accolades, accepting thanks at a school board meeting on the club’s behalf. “Me and my screening team, we do it because we think it’s important,” he said.

ARLINGTON – The Twin City Sports Network will broadcast 20 Arlington basketball games this winter.
All games start at 7:15 p.m.

More roofs over rover
ARLINGTON – After seeing a local roofing company put a new roof over the heads of pooches in the Police Department’s kennel for lost dogs, Tractor Supply in Arlington also will to do their part in the holiday spirit.
Employees bought large and small dog houses to give the animals a warm place to sleep while they wait to be reunited with owners, and manager Cindy Cash donated two Igloos on behalf of the store.
