Alison Joy Williams, a 1977 graduate from Arlington High School as Alison Davis, will be performing in an acoustic concert in Arlington for the first time since becoming a professional recording artist.
She will be joined by two other award-winning artist writers out of Nashville, Tenn., at The Mirkwood on Saturday Aug. 23 from 5-7 p.m.
Williams is a contemporary Blues/Americana artist dividing her time between Stuttgart, Germany and Nashville. She has spent the better part of her life moving around the world and finding places to sing in every kind of venue for audiences from festivals with over 5,000 attendees to acoustic cafe’s. She has written or co-written all but two of the songs on her CDs.
Her latest CD, “Another Thousand Miles,” released October 2012, offers simplistic arrangements but deep emotion. It claimed the No. 1 spot for most downloaded CD of all genres the week of release on Air Play Direct album charts. Her CD “Love All Of Me” ran up the Blues charts and was in the Top 10 for over 20 weeks, as well as spending three weeks at No. 1.
