Free movie
The city of Arlington is co-sponsor along with the Olympic Theater in offering a free movie for kids during Winter Break. “Kung Fu Panda” begins at 1 p.m., Dec. 30 and 31. Admission is free as long as space is available. No outside food allowed. The theater is located at 107 N. Olympic Ave. in downtown Arlington. For information call 360-403-3448.

Voices of the
Village at
Warm Beach
Voices of the Village under the leadership of Jon Dalgarn, will perform their favorite Christmas and winter songs at 5:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., Dec. 27 at Warm Beach Lights of Christmas, 20800 Marine Drive, south of Stanwood, and west of Smokey Point. Composed of youth and adults of many different abilities, the Voices of the Village also offer Friday jam sessions every week from 1-3 p.m., at the Arlington United Church, 338 N. Mountain Loop Highway closed for winter
Access to the Mountain Loop Highway is closed from east of Silverton to Darrington for the winter. Due to extreme weather conditions, Snohomish County has closed public access to the Mountain Loop Highway at Deer Creek cutting off east-bound traffic over Barlow Pass. “The Forest Service is not encouraging public use of the Mountain Loop Highway,” said Peter Forbes, District Ranger for the Darrington Ranger District. “Access to those that live in the Bedal area is still available through Darrington and the public is encouraged to check road and weather conditions if they want to travel into the forest.” For public safety Mountain Loop is closed until spring. Bluegrass is coming to Arlington BPAC
The Arlington Arts Council has booked two very different bluegrass bands to perform in the Byrnes Performing Arts Center in Arlington. An old-timey, gospel sort of bluegrass by Marley’s Ghost featuring Ed Littlefield and friends, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21 and a livelier, younger take on bluegrass by Rhonda Vincent & her band, Rage, will play Saturday, March 21.
