Cross Country
Brandon Moore of Arlington and Jasmine Nguyen of Marysville Getchell won races at the huge Sehome Invitational Saturday.
The event involved dozens of teams and hundreds of runners in each race.
Overall, for the boys, Arlington tied host Sehome with 83 points, but came in second due to a tiebreaker. Lakewood was 12th with 366 and Marysville Getchell 24th with 717. For the girls, Arlington was third with 168, MG fifth with 188, Lakewood 21st with 581 and Marysville-Pilchuck 35th with 881.
In the freshman boys race, Ryan Rushton of Arlington was third in 10 minutes, 56 seconds.
Matthew Hatch of Lakewood was 20th in 12:02. For the girls, Jaiden Cochran of Arlington was 12th in 14:00 and teammate Lil Nicol was 17th in 14:15. McKenzie Lewis of MG was 18th in 14:17.
For sophomore boys, Moore won easily in 10:25. Teammate Kiyoshi Hall was fifth in 10:51 and Kaden Davis ninth in 11:13. No locals placed in the top 20 for the girls.
For junior boys, Arlington’s Vincent Loftis was second in 10:27, Isaiah Lowery fourth in 10:52 and Quincy Fankhauser ninth in 11:08. Gabe Hatch was eighth for Lakewood in 11:03. For the girls, Nguyen was the winner in 12:07. Teammate Janae Parsons was seventh in 13:15 and Lilli Toone was 13th in 13:41. For Arlington, Kate Rosson was 12th in 13:40 and Bridgette Scott 15th in 13:44.
For the senior boys, Chance Pearston led the way, finishing 10th for Arlington in 10:33. For the girls, Arlington’s Anne Louis Fernandez was seventh in 12:35 with teammate Tailer Cochran 11th in 13:06 and Maggie Delaney 19th in 13:22. For MG, Julia Rea was ninth in 12:51.

Jersey Heiss scored two goals and Ellie Rork one, but the Eagles still lost at Lynden 4-3 Saturday.
Marysville Pilchuck
The Tomahawks tied Mariner 0-0 Saturday, after beating Lynnwood 3-0 Thursday.
Lakewood
Trailing 1-0 at the break, Mandy Harrison and Kahlan Buckley scored goals in the second half to beat Granite Falls 2-1. Iliana Ramirez and Jaylene Priebe-Garcia had assists.
Volleyball
Marysville Getchell
The Chargers beat Mountlake Terrace 3-1 in an excitingly close matchup 25-15, 19-25, 25-23 and 25-23 in their opener Thursday. MG’s balanced attack showed Kate Roberts with eight kills and three blocks; Kerragyn Heacock with six kills; Kelsey Kolling with five kills and three aces; Hannah Holscher with four kills and 28 assists; Courtney Taylor with 19 digs; and Peyton Schmidt with 18 digs.
Arlington
The Eagle girls blanked Cedarcrest 3-0 by scores of 25-8, 25-10 and 25-15.
Marysville-Pilchuck
The Tommies fell to Lynnwood 22-25, 25-12, 13-25 and 15-25. Caylee Carter had six kills and two blocks and Madyson Baxter had five kills. Ayana Sabbas added 18 assists and two service aces and Emmalia Napeahi 27 digs.
Boys tennis
Arlington
The Eagles beat Everett 5-2 Thursday. Taras McCurdle won 6-4, 6-2; Ben Nichols 6-4, 6-1; at No. 4 singles Colby King won 6-7, 6-3, 10-3 (tiebreaker); at No. 2 doubles Jacob Bolopue-Aiden Green won 7-5, 6-4; and Nate Metcalf-Cameron Janousek won 7-5, 6-2.
Marysville Getchell
The Chargers fell to Oak Harbor 6-1 with No. 3 doubles Keegan Brennan-Ryder Hurley getting the only win 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 (tiebreaker).
Also Bellingham beat Lakewood 7-0 in 2A.
