SWIMMING
Katelyn Leary of Marysville-Pilchuck won the 100-yard butterfly at a home meet against Monroe and Mariner Tuesday.
Her time was 1 minute, 5.94 seconds. It broke her personal best set two years ago.
The diving was close with Kelsey Harris of M-P coming out on top with 163.35 points to teammate Devon Keator with 160.6 and MG’s Sophie Alt third at 152.35.

FOOTBALL
Arlington
Replacing a quarterback like Anthony Whitis is no easy task.
But Trent Nobach showed he was up to the challenge Friday night as Arlington whipped Stanwood 44-10 in a Wesco North 3A matchup.
Nobach was 18-for-27 for 188 yards and a 27-yard TD pass to Joseph Schmidt to lead the Eagles.
Schmidt caught four passes for 70 yards. Chase Petersen led the team with six receptions.
Arlington was also effective in the ground game, with Jacob Kramer again leading the way with 97 yards on 15 carries. Gavin Skyles added 91 yards on 10 carries.
Kramer scored from 6-yards out, and Cade Younger had a 50-yard punt return to put the Eagles up 13-0 after one quarter. Cole Cramer connected on a 27-yard field goal to make it 16-3 at halftime.
After Schmidt’s TD, Michael Tsoukalas scored on a 25-yard fumble recovery and return to power Arlington to a 30-3 lead.
Skyles and Jaden Roskelley each scored from 8-yards out in the fourth to bring the Eagles to 3-0 on the year.
Along with Tsoukalas’s heroics the defense stood out in other ways, holding Stanwood to 75 yards on 34 carries on the ground. Even though Wyatt Custer passed for 159 yards he gave up an interception, also to Tsoukalas, and only connected on 13 of 31 throws.
Marysville
Dylan Carson and Jordan Justice are turning into quite the one-two punch for Marysville-Pilchuck.
Carson ran for 139 yards and three TDs, and Justice added 109 yards to lead M-P to a 34-7 rout over Squalicum Friday.
Carson scored on runs of 28 and 3 yards to five M-P a 14-0 halftime lead.
Dillon Kuk scored on an 18-yard pass from QB Jake Elwood, and then Elwood scored on a 2-yard run to make it 28-0 after three periods.
Carson added a 19-yard TD run in the fourth.
M-P, which is 3-0, was led in receiving by Kuk, who grabbed five for 88 yards.
The Tomahawk defense was dominant, only giving up a score in the last 11 seconds.
Meanwhile, Marysville Getchell lost to Ferndale 41-14.
Lakewood
Evergreen had to be asking itself, “Who are those guys?”
After leading 17-0 at halftime, Lakewood exploded for 41 points in the second half to beat the home team in a 2A matchup 41-17 to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Evergreen scored on a 79-yard pass, 97-yard blocked field goal and a field goal to take the lead.
But in the second half, Cougar QB Jared Taylor scored on runs of 58-, 38- and 8 yards. Landen Pruitt scored on a 6-yard pass from Taylor and then on a 2-yard run. Malik Dotson ended the turnaround with a 25-yard score.
VOLLEYBALL
Arlington
The Eagles came from behind to win a Wesco North 3A thriller at Edmonds-Woodway Tuesday 3-2. The scores were 25-12, 23-25, 22-25, 25-17 and 15-12. Arianna Bilby led the way with 18 kills, 2 blocks and 13 digs. Emily Mekelburg added 10 kills, and Teagan Sutherland had 4 kills and 5 blocks. Malia Shepherd had 7 aces, Taylor Pederson 18 assists and Brooelynn Ramey 17. Earlier in the week, the Eagles blanked Lynnwood 3-0, winning 25-12, 25-11 and 25-10. Bilby had 10 kills, 9 digs and 2 aces. Sutherland had 8 kills and 2 aces, Mekelburg 7 kills and 2 aces, and Shepherd 8 kills.

The Chargers lost to Shorewood 3-0 Tuesday. The scores were 15-25, 20-25 and 15-25. Alexus Atkins had 5 kills, Kate Roberts 3 with 2 blocks and Kerragyn Heacock 2 with 11 digs. They also lost a heartbreaker to Cedarcrest last Thursday 3-2. MG ran out of gas at the end with the scores 21-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23 and 15-4. Atkins had 6 kills and a block, Kelsey Kolling 5 kills and 2 blocks, Whitney Harwood 5 kills, Hannah Holscher 6 aces and 9 assists, and Peyton Schmidt 20 digs and 2 aces.

The Tommies lost to Shorecrest 3-1 Tuesday. And they fell to Archbishop Murphy 14-25, 27-29 and 15-25 last Thursday.

Arlington
At Oak Harbor Tuesday, the Eagles beat the home team in a 3A Wesco North match 6-1. At No. 1 singles, Taras McCurdie won 6-3, 6-2; Keaton McBride won at No. 3 7-5, 6-3; and Zack Martian at No. 4 6-0, 6-1. In doubles, Cooper McBride-Aiden Green won 6-2, 7-5; Cameron Janousek-Nate Metcalf 3-6, 6-2, 6-3; and Clayton Blubaugh-Colby King 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. At Arlington Friday, the Eagles beat visiting Lakewood 5-2. McCurdie beat Eli Ingrum 6-0, 6-2, but Cougar Tyler Edmonds defeated Jacob Bolopue 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Arlington won the next few matches with Janousek besting Colton Dune 6-1, 6-4; and Aaron Nichols getting by Brad Wood in three sets 1-6, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 1 doubles, Lakewood picked up its second win with Ben Vanderweyst-Garrett Davis beating King-Blubaugh 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. The Eagles won the last two matches with McBride-Green whipping Ryan Orr-Jackson Lundquist 6-0, 6-1; and Braden Dahlgren-Mason Shepherd doing the same to Cal Eastman-Erik Evenson 6-1, 6-2. Also, the Eagles trounced Everett 6-1 last Thursday. Arlington won the first three singles matches: McCurdie 6-2, 6-3; Ben Nichols 4-6, 6-2, 6-3; and McBride 6-2, 6-1. It swept the doubles play with Cooper McBride-Green 4-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5); Bolopue-Janousek 6-1, 6-2; and Jayce Jaubert-Zack Martian 6-2, 6-4.

Four players scored goals in Lakewood’s 4-0 win at Nooksack Valley Monday in a 2A matchup. Layla Thomas and Kaley Chang each had a goal and an assist, while Iliana Ramirez and Kahlan Buckley both scored goals and Mandy Harrison had two assists. Last Thursday, the Cougars fought to a 0-0 draw against Bellingham.
Arlington
The Eagle girls lost in double overtime to Edmonds-Woodway 1-0 3A Wesco North matchup Tuesday. But they trounced Lynnwood last Thursday 6-1. Jersey Heiss and Jordan Bartlow each scored two goals and added an assist. Carly Bartlow had one goal and one assist, and Ellie Rork added a goal.

Tuesday, the Chargers fell to Shorewood 2-1. After battling to a 1-1 tie at the break, the Chargers tallied two in the second half to win 3-1 last Thursday. Alana Gomez led the way with two goals and an assist, while Sofiia Trujillo had a goal and an assist and Maddy Grandbois added an assist.

The Charger girls won a three-team Wesco 3A race at Strawberry Fields Thursday with 19 points. The boys were last with 44. For the girls junior Jasmine Nguyen won the race in 18 minutes, 38 seconds, with teammate Julia Rea second. Juniors Janae Parsons and Lilli Toone were fourth and fifth. Finishing seventh through 10th were freshmen McKenzie Lewis, Karina Anderson and Piper Jones-Moses, along with Karissa Snyder. For the boys, junior Oliver Schwab was third in 16:29, with Xander Johnson fifth, Christian Balgos ninth, Cole Norton 13th and Tyler Rounds 14th.

At Jackson High School Thursday, the Tommies were last in a four-team race in both the girls and boys events with 117 points each.
