MARYSVILLE — Cool, humid weather dampened the turnout for the city’s last all-comers track meet of the season, but the evening still produced a handful of records that will carry into next summer.

Just under a dozen competitors set new records in their events by age category at the Aug. 13 meet at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Twelve-year-old Marina Wika set records in three different running events. She had new best times in the 100-meter dash at 14.93, 400 at 1:19 and 800, or two laps of the track, at 2:57.

Arlington track athlete Melissa Webb, who will be a junior this fall, added to the girl power with new records in the 100, with a time of 13.68, and the 200, which she finished in 29.14.

Ten-year-old Gabby Grandbois was the third girl to set records in multiple events, with a city-best performance by age in the 50 hurdles in 8.97 and the shot put in 19-4.

Four more women had new records, all in different events. Darlene Gibson, 40, set a record in the 400, which she completed in a time of 1:27. Nineteen-year-old M-P alum Robin Mueller finished the 200 in 31.33 and recent Lakewood graduate Lacey Nation ended the summer season with a best time in the 1,600, finishing in 5:42. Gabby Crenshaw, 10, set a best time in the 50 in 7.63.

Four different male competitors set a new record in various events. Seven-year-old Hunter Ashby was the youngest record-setter of the night, completing the 800 in 3:36. Tyler Davis of Lake Stevens had a new record in the 1,600, winning the night’s race in a time of 5:03. Cory Cooper, 38, set a record in the 110 hurdles, finishing in a time of 21.51, and Jim Gibson ran the 800 in 2:39.

Since the Marysville Parks and Recreation Department launched the all-comers track meet in 2007, it has held four meets on consecutive Thursdays spanning July and August.
