MARYSVILLE — On Monday, July 16, Marysville Police received a report of an attempted assault that occurred Friday, July 13, in the 17600 block of 29 Avenue NE.

The victim, a 51-year-old Marysville man, reported receiving a text message from a number he did not recognize, stating not to drink his alcohol.

The man thought it was a prank and poured himself his customary drink from his bottle after coming home from work. He then felt ill with a headache, but went to bed and did not seek medical treatment.

Marysville Police detectives determined that the man’s 24-year-old daughter, who resides with him, had put an unused prescribed medication in his alcohol bottle. She told detectives she intended to kill him, alleging that he had earlier assaulted her. After putting the medication in the bottle, she had second thoughts and sent her father the text message from her cell phone, warning him not to drink it. Detectives learned through conversations with medical professionals, as part of the investigation, that ingestion of this particular prescribed medication in this manner would have no adverse effect.

The suspected tainted bottle was collected as evidence by detective, and the woman was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on the charge of attempted assault in the first degree.
