ARLINGTON — A Marysville man, 59, suffered life-threatening injuries Thursday in a motorcycle crash on Highway 530 just west of Arlington.

The man was westbound on a Harley Davidson when the driver of an eastbound GMC Envoy reportedly made an illegal U-turn, said trooper Mark Francis with the Washington State Patrol.

The motorcyclist couldn’t stop in time and broadsided the GMC. He suffered severe leg injuries and was taken via ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Police initially had planned to transport him via medical helicopter due to his injuries.

The crash occurred in a construction zone, Francis said. The GMC driver, who was unhurt, is being investigated for a potential charge of vehicular assault. She is 66, of Sedro-Woolley.

The crash was reported at 12:30 p.m. Highway 530 was closed in both directions for several hours.
