MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Tulalip Relay For Life is continuing its fundraising efforts through the month of February.
On Feb. 19, the Marysville Tulalip Relay will be sharing the wealth with the Arlington and Lake Stevens Relays, when the three Relays will jointly conduct a three-way-split fundraiser at the Marysville Skate Inn, located at 7313 44th Ave. NE, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at a cost of $5 per skater.
All proceeds will ultimately go to the American Cancer Society, but the Marysville Tulalip Relay’s third of the proceeds will be credited to two of its kids-only teams, “Dancing Angels” and “Future Scientists.” Both teams are headed up by 8-year-old captains and have been busy raising funds by selling cake pops and collecting aluminum cans, as well as organizing a “mini-relay” at their school, Grove Elementary.
Feb. 26 marks the return of a familiar favorite, as Doc’s Pilchuck Tavern at 1431 S. Machias Rd. in Snohomish welcomes the return of the Oyster Barbecue fundraiser to support the Marysville Tulalip Relay.
“We did this on New Year’s Day for our annual ‘Polar Bear Splash,'” said Mo Olason, event chair for the 2011 Marysville Tulalip Relay For Life. “We sold every one of our 450 oysters and raised more than $900 for the American Cancer Society. Due to lots of requests for a return visit, we’ll be back with our tutu-wearing waitresses and delicious barbecued oyster, from noon until whenever we run out.”
