MARYSVILLE — On Feb. 26 at approximately 4:15 p.m., Marysville Police observed a 1994 Honda Accord, in the 600 block of State Avenue, that was identified as a stolen vehicle, taken from the city of Everett on Feb. 22.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle, but were able to locate it a short time later at Fifth Street and Delta Avenue. The stolen car turned westbound on Fourth Street and continued west, and the driver failed to stop when officers attempted to stop the vehicle at northbound Fourth Street and Cedar Avenue. The vehicle continued northbound to Sixth Street, where it turned westbound. The vehicle then turned southbound on Beach Avenue and continued to Fourth Street. The driver failed to stop for the stop sign at Fourth Street and Beach Avenue, and turned westbound on Fourth Street. The pursuing officer terminated the pursuit at that time.

Traffic was backed up on Fourth Street to Interstate 5, one block west. The driver of the stolen Honda continued westbound between the two westbound lanes, colliding with and bouncing off of eight other vehicles. The stolen Honda, damaged and undrivable, came to rest just shy of I-5.

The male driver exited the vehicle and began running westbound toward the freeway. A female passenger remained in the vehicle. Officers gave chase. During the arrest, the suspect resisted, resulting in the application of a taser. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as a 29-year-old Everett man. He was on bail for pending felony charges. The passenger in the vehicle, a 24-year-old Marysville female, was transported by Marysville Fire District personnel to the Providence Everett Medical Center Colby Campus for minor injuries.

The male suspect will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for felony eluding and possession of a stolen vehicle. Bail has not been set at this time.
