MARYSVILLE — Would it be a fashion show without billowy dresses?

Thankfully, attendees of the Strawberry Festival Fashion Show will have to wait for at least another year to find out.

While the June 17 event featured more functional clothing than couture, dresses from sponsor A Bride’s Utopia brought prom and wedding apparel to keep the gown gapers satisfied. But for the practical fashionista, there were also plenty of fresh looks better suited for daily dress from area sponsors including Fred Meyer, Kohl’s and Fashion Bug.

The looks at Leifer Manor were as varied as the models, who ran the gamut from children to moms, women and men. Lifelong friends Deej Hodgen and Ricky Bates were among the first on the catwalk, donned in duds from Pro-Image. Hodgen wore a black and orange embroidered authentic New York Mets baseball jersey, while Bates appeared in a Seattle Seahawks jersey.

On the other end of the spectrum, Lakewood students and sisters Haley and Chelsea Favro each modeled two vintage looks from the Assistance League of Everett. Haley modeled more classic looks, first in a brown lace camisole with khaki shorts and matching jacket and later in a sleeveless little black dress offset by a white belt. Chelsea’s style, meanwhile, skewed funkier, particularly with her second look, a navy and white dress that mixed prints.

The variety of styles is intended to reflect the diversity of fashion trends in the Marysville area, said fashion show co-chair Erica Bargmeyer.

“Different sizes, different shapes, different prices,” Bargmeyer said, describing the organizers’ mission this year. “A little bit of something for everybody.”
