MARYSVILLE — Washington State Patrol troopers responded Aug. 27 at approximately 11:20 a.m. to a two-vehicle collision in the northbound lanes of I-5 at Mile Post 204 near Marysville. One of the vehicles was pulling a horse trailer with one horse inside.

According to Trooper Keith Leary, the trailer was rear-ended by a 2000 Acrua passenger car being driven by a 52-year-old female who apparently fell asleep. The horse trailer rolled over with the horse inside. Luckily the horse did not receive any injuries and was removed by Marysville Fire District firefighters using the jaws of life.

Trooper Leary said the Marysville Fire District did an outstanding job removing the horse with the owner’s assistance.

No injuries were reported and no alcohol or drugs were involved.

The accident blocked two lanes for about 40 minutes. According to Leary the driver of the Acura will be cited for negligent driving in the second degree and driving while suspended.
