MARYSVILLE – After losing a heart-breaker 26-25 to Edmonds-Woodway Oct. 29, Marysville-Pilchuck needs help to advance in the high school football playoffs.
M-P needs Lynden to beat Blaine Oct. 30 or its season will end.
If Blaine loses, M-P will host Ferndale Nov. 3 at Quil Ceda Stadium in a play-in game to continue.
The Tomahawks led most of the way against the Warriors at Edmonds Stadium.
Jason Loop hit an 18-yard field goal, and Ray Pimental scored on a 25-yard run to give M-P a 9-7 lead after one quarter.
After a safety, Pimental scored again in the second period, this time on a 43-yard pass from senior quarterback Erik Lind.
M-P increased its lead to 25-13 in the fourth quarter when Lind scored on a 1-yard run.
But then the Warriors caught fire, scoring first on a 1-yard run and then on a 28-yard pass play with 1:05 left in the game.
The Tomahawks made it interesting on its final drive of the game, but a fourth-down pass fell incomplete.
Lind was 11 for 17 for 135 yards and also ran for 52 yards on 12 carries. Pimentel added 36 yards on five carries.
Warrior QB Issac Jackson threw three interceptions in the first half, but ended the game 12 for 19 for 268 yards and three scores. He hit receiver David Woodward three times for 90 yards on the winning drive.
The Warriors improved to 6-3, and M-P fell to 4-5. The teams finished third in Wesco 3A South and North.
