TULALIP — The Marysville School District will host a “Legislators’ Forum on Education” Sept. 24 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Marysville Arts and Technology High School Commons, located at 7204 27th Ave.

As of press time, state Representatives Dave Quall, Dan Kristiansen, Mike Hope, Kirk Pearson, Mike Sells and Hans Dunshee have committed their attendance at this forum.

“This forum is designed to allow the public to ask our legislators some frank questions about education funding and other related issues,” Marysville School District Board President Michael Kundu said. “Marysville and other districts in Washington are facing some very serious challenges in their ability to adequately prepare our students for the future, and many of those challenges can best be addressed in Olympia.”

The forum will involve moderated audience questions being presented to the legislators, and at the end of the forum the public will have an opportunity to provide brief comment or testimony to the panel of legislators. The general public and media are invited and encouraged to attend. The Marysville School District alone has suffered reductions in educational funding totaling $6.5 million.

“The Marysville School District deeply values government openness, transparency and accountability,” Kundu said. “This is an excellent opportunity to share those values with the

lawmakers who frame the environment for public education in our state.”
