Lakewood athletes star at Cascade Conference championships

Michelle Howe was a one-woman wrecking crew and the boys sprinters came up with big performances for Lakewood at the May 9 Cascade Conference championship meet.
Howe finished third in the 100m, sixth in the 200m, won the 100m high hurdles and finished second in the 300m low hurdles.
Corinne Gogert also turned in a stellar afternoon with a third place finish in the 1,600m and a second place result in the 3,200m.
Danielle Osti added to her impressive resume this season with a fourth place finish in the 800m, completing two laps in 2:25.84. Freshman Erin Dierickx clocked a fourth place finish in the 400m in 1:04.63. Dierickx was closely followed by junior Mareyoko Butler who finished fifth with a time of 1:04:68.
In the throws, Rachel Hartman came in third in the shot, with a distance of 3311. Jean McKeever came in second in the javelin at 10408.
On the boys side of things, Devon Smith turned in stellar performances in multiple events to lead the way. Smith came in third in the 200m sprint at 23.48s and finished second in the 400m at 51.43. Smith went on to finish fourth in the long jump as well with a distance of 1909.
James Ervin finished in first place in the 800m with a time of 2:01:16 and teammate Terrence Ordonez came in right behind at 2:01:49. Ordonez also placed fourth in the 1,600m at 4:38:42.
Also of note, sophomore Payden Butler pole vaulted 1100 to place second at the meet.
