MARYSVILLE — Nine area churches and ministries are taking part in Marysville’s third annual, and largest ever, “Pulpit Swap,” which is part of a concerted effort by these and other Marysville pastors to build unity amongst the churches of the city.
In an effort to promote trust among the pastors, the group allows each speaker to choose his or her own sermon topic. Three of the churches — Judah Praise Center, Emmanuel Baptist Church and Jake’s House — participated June 7, four more will participate this coming Sunday, June 14, and the remaining two will participate in August.
The “Pulpit Swap” idea was born out of meetings between representatives from the 15 different churches that are currently planning the “Summer Jubilee.” Last year’s “Summer Jubilee” provided free school supplies, haircuts, food, and entertainment, and drew more than 10,000 attendees.
On June 14, Pastor Victor Rodriguez, of Marysville Free Methodist Church, will speak at Allen Creek Community Church at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., while Pastor Rick Thiessen, of Allen Creek Community Church, will speak at Marysville Christian Church at 10:10 a.m. On the same day, Pastor David Carnes, of Marysville Christian Church, will speak at Marysville Free Methodist Church at 8:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m., while Pastor Steve Schertzinger, of Resurgence Ministries, will speak at Turning Point Church at 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.
