MARYSVILLE — The State Route 529 Ebey Slough Bridge has been confirmed to be closed for the weekend from 5 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, to 5 a.m. on Monday, June 10.

“Mother Nature is finally smiling on our efforts to put the final layer of pavement on the approaches to the new bridge,” said Kris Olsen, of the Washington State Department of Transportation Communications, on Friday, June 7. “It’s all systems go this weekend, after several previous cancellations due to rain.”

Both directions of the bridge will be closed. Southbound drivers in Marysville will follow a signed detour, using Fourth Street to southbound I-5, during the closure. Southbound I-5 drivers can still exit to southbound SR 529 to reach Everett for the Sorticulture Garden Arts Festival at Legion Memorial Park. While northbound SR 529 out of Everett will remain open, drivers will be directed off SR 529 at the exit to northbound I-5, and then to Exit 199 at Fourth Street to reach Marysville.

The final overlay of pavement will ensure the lanes will be flush with the concrete deck of the new bridge. Crews will also place temporary striping on the bridge. Permanent striping work will be completed this summer.
