MARYSVILLE — Cascade Elementary is in need of some TLC, according to Laura Berry, which is why she hopes to see some helping hands on its campus Saturday, March 24.

Berry is the founder of the Cascade Community Cleanup, which she started because she believes that the school has been neglected due to state budget cutbacks.

“I am pleading with the community to donate toward the repair of the school’s ‘Fantasy Fortress,’ which is slowly deteriorating and has been vandalized over time,” Berry said. “This play structure used to be an area attraction for the city of Marysville, but now it’s becoming an eyesore. Families still bring their children to play on it, so I’m hoping those same families will pull together and help us fix it. If we don’t, I’ve been told it’s going to be removed.”

The cleanup will start at 9 a.m. on March 24 at Cascade Elementary, located at 5200 100th St. NE in Marysville.
