The Jewish community of Snohomish County joins thousands of communities around the globe as they celebrate Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, from Friday, Dec. 15 through Saturday, Dec. 23.
Chanukah is highlighted by the kindling of the Menorah each night of the holiday. It is a holiday that enriches our lives with the light of tradition, said Rabbi Yossi Mandel, Director of the Chabad Jewish Center of Snohomish County. In ancient times our ancestors rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem with the Menorah, the branched candelabra. Today, we rededicate ourselves to making this world a better and brighter place. Chanukah also spreads the universal message that ultimately good will prevail over evil, freedom over oppression and light over darkness.
To celebrate Chanukah in Snohomish County this year:
On Sunday, Dec. 17 at 4 p.m., join us for a public Menorah lighting with Chanukah refreshments and entertainment. Call the Chabad Jewish Center to RSVP.
