MARYSVILLE — As of press time, Marysville Police are continuing to investigate the events leading to a fatality vehicle collision that occurred in the 8200 block of Highway 528 in Marysville Sept. 28.

Just before 7:30 a.m., Marysville Police were called to the scene of the collision. The vehicle was driving westbound on Highway 528 at the time of the collision. The vehicle crossed the eastbound lanes of traffic and struck a utility pole. The driver, a 46-year-old Lake Stevens man, was pronounced dead at the scene by Marysville Fire District medical personnel.

“At this time, we really don’t have a sense of whether this was a driver that lost control of a vehicle, had a medical condition, or had some other reason for the collision,” Marysville Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said. “We may not know for certain until the results of an autopsy become available.”

Utility repairs to Highway 528, as a result of the collision, will continue through the evening commute Sept. 28. Highway 528 will remain closed to through traffic between 76th Drive and Highway 9 until the late evening of Sept. 28.

Commuters should consider utilizing Highway 2 trestles or 172nd Street in Smokey Point to access Highway 9 from Interstate 5.
