MARYSVILLE — Halloween celebrations will stretch across two nights in Marysville this year, as Jennings Memorial Park and Third Street in downtown Marysville both have fun and spooky events planned for a variety of ages.

Jennings Memorial Park, located at 6915 Armar Rd., will serve as the venue for annual Teen Halloween Haunted Egg Hunt Oct. 29, starting at 7 p.m. Pre-registration for ages 11-15 is encouraged, and the cost per person is $3. Participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes and bring both flashlights and bags to hold their eggs.

“This isn’t your little sister’s egg hunt,” laughed Dave Hall, athletic coordinator for Marysville Parks. “This is for the tween age group. We’ll have older teens dressing up in costumes to scare them as they’re out in the dark.”

The event is sponsored by Marysville Parks and Kung Fu 4 Kids, the latter of which will be giving out coupons and gift cards as prizes.

“When the kids come back indoors to open up their eggs, to see how much candy they got, some of those eggs will have raffle tickets in them,” Hall said. “So they’ll either get candy or prizes. It’s a lot of fun. The kids always have a good time.”

The Marysville Downtown Merchants Association will follow this with its own ghoulish good time Oct. 30, as Third Street once again opens its doors to trick-or-treaters from 4-5 p.m. Look for a number of participating downtown Marysville merchants to put pumpkins in their windows, decorate their locations and even dress up for the occasion.
