The Lady Cougars faced tough and tall Cascade Conference competition Friday, Jan. 5, against Kings High School.
The 64-33 defeat dropped Lakewoods league record to 1-1 and their overall tally to 6-2.
Kings improved to 2-0, 5-1.
Veteran coach Chris Walster said Kings has a way of making your offense looking feeble.
A lot of our scoring this season has come off of turnovers this year, and we didnt get a lot of that, he said.
They have three 6-footers that will probably all be Division 1 prospects. Sophomore Anna Work would get under the basket and find herself under a forest.
Walster said he does not expect the 2006 2A state champions to incur any losses even after being reclassified as a 1A squad.
Some people comment that we look like a team of middle schoolers against them, Walster joked.
All in all, he was happy with the fact that his team was only down by 14 at halftime.
I thought given the competition we played okay. We just did not react well to it the pressure caused us to play without poise. On the positive side, they (Kings) will probably win the league title and because we are different classifications they wont take one of our district spots.
