MARYSVILLE — City of Marysville officials and law enforcement representatives dedicated the new Bayview Trail on Saturday, Oct. 1, during a ceremony at Northpointe East Park.

The 1.6-mile paved trail in the east-side Marysville foothills extends from 64th Street NE north to 75th Street at the park. The trail was designed and built in-house.

Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring, a regular runner himself, has jogged the trail and hails it as a great new recreational asset that adds to Marysville’s livability.

“We want to be a more walkable, bike-able and healthy community, as we have emphasized in our Healthy Communities Project,” Nehring said. “When cities build walking trails, people exercise more. This trail adds a safe route that connects neighborhoods, and is a great addition to our parks and trails system.”

A memorial plaque and bench at the 75th Street entrance was also dedicated in honor of slain Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton, who lived in Marysville. His family attended the ceremony, joined by several Seattle and Marysville police representatives. Funds for the memorial were provided by an anonymous donor.
