It’s been a grueling week for the Tomahawk softball team, who cranked out wins over league rivals Stanwood, Cascade and Monroe for a chance to play into the district tournament.
Last season the girls wrenched out wins late in the regular season for the last seed to districts, upsetting state-ranked Monroe and going on to win the district tournament.
The Marysville-Pilchuck girls will need the same kind of luck this season as they battle through injuries to nearly half the starting roster.
They visit Wesco South No. 4 Kamiak May 18 in a loser-out, winner-to-districts game at Kamiak High School, playing for the privilege of meeting Stanwood in the first round of the double-elimination district tournament that begins May 19 at Sky River Park in Monroe.
In an early-season non-conference meeting, the Tomahawks cruised to victory over the Knights 11-0 in five innings. The Knights were 7-11 in Wesco South play, going 3-3 through the month of May.
I’ll be providing live updates of today’s game from my Twitter account, which will also be streamed live in the box above.
