It is strange on how the Marysville-Pilchuck Wrestling Program has not progressed as a force to be reckoned with, i.e. Lake Stevens and Snohomish. This is a sport that is very competitive for the individual wrestler.
Ive been in the practice room of M-P helping out, as well as wrestling with the kids to help motivate them. The kids are taught that they will be given the chance to learn to wrestle but at no time have they practiced over and over the same moves, so they can become proficient.
Yet the coaching staff is puzzled as to why the team lacks the abilities to perform during matches or to have more then two to three wrestlers move on to the regional tournaments.
There is no motivation to demand improvement, just to give the chance to have fun. I, for one, do not care to put a child out there on the mats without the drive and know-how to succeed.
I think it is time for the parents of M-P and the Athletic Director of Marysville demand a whole new coaching staff.
