MARYSVILLE — Marysville Fire Department officials say a blaze at Marysville-Pilchuck High School Wednesday night was intentionally set.
The fire started in a large recycling bin then spread to a nearby portable classroom. Inside the classroom this morning were numerous stationary bicycles.
The blaze, which started at about 11:40 p.m., caused about $70,000 in damage.
The cause of the fire was not disclosed, and officials would not reveal why they think it was arson.
Students are still on winter break until Monday.
Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux of the Marysville Police Department said detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying any potential suspects. Anyone with information should call 360-363-8350.
Marysville schools spokesman Craig Degginger said the portable was scheduled for removal in coming weeks to make room for construction of the new M-P cafeteria.
