When looking back at 2010, people will remember it for a variety of reasons. The following are just some of the stories which appeared on the pages of The Marysville Globe.
MARYSVILLE — Unpleasant odors in the area continue to be a concern for Marysville and Everett residents, and the Citizens for a Smell Free Marysville are once again meeting with elected officials and regulatory agencies to see what can be done to put a stop to this issue.
At 5 p.m. on Jan. 5, the Marysville City Council Chambers will serve as the site for a public meeting between state Rep. Hans Dunshee and members of the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, the Snohomish County Health District and the Citizens for a Smell Free Marysville, as well as any other interested citizens, to discuss what steps can be taken to eliminate the odors reported by Marysville and Everett residents alike.
MARYSVILLE — Just before 8 p.m., Monday, Marysville Fire District crews were dispatched to the 6300 block of 33rd Avenue NE near Marysville where a man had been stuck by a vehicle.
MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Police Department will be holding a public notification meeting to release information regarding two Level III sex offenders residing within the city limits of Marysville.
Darren Gene Law and Gary D. Young have registered as sex offenders with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, and will be residing in the 15400 block of 51st Avenue NE in Marysville.
EVERETT — The U.S. Navy’s Dec. 9 announcement that the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Nimitz will be homeported at Naval Station Everett was met with praise from local, state and national-level elected officials.
MARYSVILLE — Community members who would like assistance from the Marysville Community Food Bank and Toy Store must be registered with the Marysville Community Food Bank no later than Dec. 10.
MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Goodwill Job Training and Education Center, located at 9315 State Ave., will register people from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 13-15 for free classes in the eight-week session that runs from Jan. 4 through Feb. 24 of next year.
VERLOT — Marysville hiker Jack LaMont was found dead at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 6 after he went missing in the mountains east of Granite Falls over the weekend.
LaMont became the subject of a search by Mountain Rescue teams from throughout the Puget Sound region off the Mountain Loop Highway when he did not return home after he left to go on a hiking trip on Dec. 4.

MARYSIVLLE – Snow began falling in Marysville on Monday morning and weather forecasters are expecting it to continue through the afternoon with snowfall totals expected between 1-3 inches in some areas in the region.
MARYSVILLE — The community will be glittering with seasonal spirit during the 22nd annual “Merrysville for the Holidays” winter festival on Dec. 4 in downtown Marysville.
MARYSVILLE — At approximately 7 p.m. Nov. 10, Marysville Police responded to an armed robbery report at an apartment in the 8700 block of 67th Avenue NE.
TULALIP — The Tulalip Amphitheatre will serve as the site for a holiday food drive Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The goal of the event is to fill up two truckloads of food for the Marysville and Tulalip food banks in time for Thanksgiving and the other winter holidays.
