MARYSVILLE — Covey’s Auto Parts in Marysville is giving Isuzu and Suzuki owners a chance to refurbish their automobiles while supporting those in need in the community at the same time.
From now through the end of December, Tim Covey is inviting owners of Isuzu and Suzuki vehicles to trade out their cars’ parts for ones that he has in his lot, as long as they bring two canned foods and a new toy, still in its package, for local charities, as well as $5 to cover the waiver fee.
“We’ve got a lot of good parts,” Covey said. “I can let people trade out any Isuzu or Sukuzi part, as long as it’s not anything that we’ve put time on. If I had to pay to pull off a fender, I can’t trade it. But we’ve got about 50 Isuzus and Suzukis out back for folks to choose from.”
From there, car owners simply need to bring in the parts they want to trade, along with their food and toys and waiver fees, and put their old parts on Covey’s vehicles when they get their new matching parts and the corresponding stock numbers.
“For there, just clean up your mess and pat yourself on the back, knowing that you’ve helped yourself and others in need,” Covey said. “I know a lot of people who are out of work or have had to close their businesses down, so I know there’s some real need out there.”
Covey plans on phasing out his Isuzu and Suzuki business in favor of focusing exclusively on Mazda parts, but in the meantime, he hopes the community will be able to benefit from his stock.
“I could take it all to the crusher pile right now and get just as much money for it, but then hungry people and kids wouldn’t get anything out of it,” Covey said. “This way, people get new parts for next to nothing and we can give food and toys to those who need them. We’re not just recycling auto parts. We’re recycling people too.”
