MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Care Center recently received two awards from Life Care Centers of America.
The center was named “Facility of the Year” for Life Care’s Northwest Division, which includes 30 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Marysville Care Center Executive Director Stephanie Bonanzino also received one of two “President’s Awards” for the division.
Criteria for the “Facility of the Year” award include excellent customer service, positive financial performance, a strong activities department, an active volunteer program and involvement in the community, according to Life Care Public Relations Communications Coordinator Heidi Tompkins.
“The Marysville Care Center has set itself apart by achieving high scores on its recent customer satisfaction surveys,” said Tompkins, who cited areas of special praise as including the respectfulness of staff, residents’ relationships with staff and each other, and rehabilitation services. “Residents and associates at the facility stay active. Residents have a voice in designing activities, including weekly outings.”
Tompkins noted that the fine dining program offers popular meals, such as barbecue ribs and baked potatoes. She added that large events — including frequent blood drives, annual Halloween parties and biannual food drives — keep residents and associates engaged in the community, and that therapists at the facility sponsor exercise groups at two local independent senior living complexes.
The “President’s Award” is intended to recognize distinguished service in long-term health care management. Tompkins lauded Bonanzino for being “willing and eager to do any tasks that need to be done,” even working 12- or 14-hour days, focusing on direct resident care, and traveling to other Life Care buildings to train and mentor their associates.
“Stephanie does not and will not ask more of the associates she serves than she will ask of herself,” Life Care Regional Vice President Dan Murray said.
